A combative Korina Sanchez reportedly wrote an open letter to Valenzuela councilor Shalani Soledad, the girlfriend of Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, to clarify certain issues involving the two of them.

The open letter, now circulating on the Internet, is the second one Sanchez wrote since her fiancé Sen. Mar Roxas II renounced his presidential ambitions to give way to Aquino, who has expressed his intention to run for president under the Liberal Party. The two formally announced the Aquino-Roxas tandem at Club Filipino yesterday.

Previously, the ABS-CBN newscaster had written a strongly-worded letter to ABS-CBN reporter RG Cruz reacting to some negative statements he had purportedly made against her on his Facebook page.

In her letter to Soledad, a copy of which was sent anonymously to Good Times Manila, Sanchez denied “nasty” reports that she was heartbroken over losing her prospects as the next First Lady.

 She also accused Aquino’s girlfriend of ignoring an invitation to be her Facebook friend.

 The open letter is reproduced in full below:

 Well, well, well, you must be pretty pleased with yourself, Shahani Solidad [sic]. You are one step closer to becoming First Lady. Congratulations. Clap. Clap. Clap.

 Contrary to what some nasty people have been saying about me (please refer to my other open letter to RG Cruz), allow me to make it very clear that I am NOT desperate to become First Lady. I do NOT care about that title at all. You are more than free to go for it. I will NOT stop you.
 
Besides, I did not become a multi-awarded broadcast journalist for nothing with so many awards to my name, including a Silver World Medal for Investigative Report at the New York Festivals, which also gave me and my show Rated K a finalist certificate as Best News Reporter and Best News Magazine, respectively. Imagine that. An award from New York. It’s nothing really, just part of my job.

I am sure that as an aspiring First Lady, you have some achievements of your own as a barangay kagawad – oh, I’m sorry – I mean, as a “councilor” in that swampy place Navotas [should be Valenzuela -Ed.]. I am sure you are very proud of yourself.

And do I even need to mention that I am a household name to millions of Filipinos around the world, the soon-to-be-wife of a respected senator, and a bosom buddy of your boyfriend’s sister, Kris Aquino? What is “First Lady” to me but just another title?
 
By contrast, since you are now enjoying your newfound fame as the girlfriend of my former boyfriend, Sen. Noynoy Aquino, I am sure some people will probably recognize you now as you walk the corridors of the Navotas Municipal Hall or wherever you do your work as a barangay tanod.

 I wrote to you to make these clarifications. Believe me, I am happy for you, Shulina Soledum [sic], or as I like to call you, future First Lady-wannabe.

 But I have another reason for writing you, future First Lady-wannabe. On the seventh of September 2009, at exactly 1:12 in the morning, I logged on to my Facebook and chanced upon your account since it so happened that you and my fiancé are Facebook friends, so I took it upon myself – as a matter of simple courtesy and nothing else – to invite you, Sheluni Soleded [sic] to be my Facebook friend.

Well, it has been more than 20 DAYS since I made a point of inviting you, but still there has been no response, and it is hard to believe but all points lead to one conclusion, that you, Shanuni Suledad [sic], in fact, “ignored” my invitation. And please do not insult my intelligence by saying you have not been logging on to Facebook, for I have seen, using my fiancé’s account that on the 12th of September 2009 at exactly 1:12 a.m., you “found a lonely brown cow on Farmville.” Furthermore, on the 15th September 2009 at 9:43 p.m. you updated your status and said you were “buying Noynoy some hair gel for Christmas.” 

What say you, future First Lady-wannabe? It does not matter to me, since you are as important to me as a gnat is important to a carabao. But do you not understand the importance of common courtesy as a prospective First Lady of the land?

So to you, Sheluna Sulingad [sic], I say, I hope that – as one of your Facebook entries narrated – as you were “eating sans rival” while events at Club Filipino on the 2nd of September 2009 were unfolding and all you could think of and delight in, as written in your Facebook, are your “shot at becoming First Lady,” you will, henceforth, take interest in proper decorum and the qualities that a real genuine First Lady must possess.

I pray that your failure as a First Lady shall not lead you down to a tragic path, disappearing into oblivion, and leaving not even a trace of dust to settle in your wake, in the same way no hair could ever settle on Noynoy’s shiny skull.
